A specialist program operates to assist carer parents to obtain maintenance for children in their care, and to assist liable parents to have maintenance orders and assessments varied or discharged. The program is generally only available to people who receive some form of benefit or family allowance from Centrelink, although the Centre can provide general assistance and information to those not receiving Centrelink benefits.
Self-help kits that detail each step, provide sample court forms and give information about court procedures are available for download from our website. Limited assistance may also be provided in completing court documentation in complicated matters.
Unfortunately the Centre is not able to represent liable parents at court hearings.
