Caxton Legal Centre works with universities to provide learning opportunities for students which also enhance the capacity of the service.
In conjunction with the Griffith University Law School's Professor Jeff Giddings, the Centre pioneered the development of Clinical Legal Education. Currently Griffith and Caxton operate an advice clinic with a focus on family law and general legal matters in alternating university semesters.
Caxton also partners with the University of Queensland Law School to run a student consumer law clinic advising on the purchase of goods, services and credit for domestic and household purposes.
Student clinics are staffed by law students who provide legal advice and some limited casework assistance to clients under the guidance of experienced staff from both universities and Caxton Legal Centre.
Law students who are interested in participating in a clinic program should contact the appropriate academic within their law school.
Advice through the clinics is available by appointment only.
