is Caxton Legal Centre?
Caxton Legal Centre is an independent, non-profit community organisation providing FREE legal and social work advice, assistance and referral for the general public. Our services are designed for people who cannot afford a solicitor, for people who just want initial advice, or for people who want a referral to a private solicitor. We can provide services in most areas of law except immigration, conveyancing and some large commercial matters. The Centre
receives government funding from the Commonwealth Additional funding is raised through donations, membership fees, sale of publications and other fundraising activities. The Centre employs a small group of full-time day staff including solicitors, social workers and administration workers. A group of more than 200 volunteer lawyers, social workers and students donate their time to provide advice and assistance outside normal working hours. A Management Committee oversees the general direction of the Centre while day-to-day operations are managed by the Centre's Director and paid staff.
